Manager of Financial Operations, Athletics

Job Description

The Manager of Financial Operations for Athletics prepares all NCAA financial reports, monitors budget status on University and Foundation athletic accounts, and monitors the operating, travel and game day budget expenditures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
  • Assists Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics with annual departmental budget preparation; monitors budget status on athletic and foundation accounts. Prepares weekly budget reports for the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Oversees the coding and processing of all operating, travel and game day (concessions, ticketing, etc.) budget expenditures and revenue, in accordance with the University’s purchasing and accounting policies.
  • Assists with marketing, fund-raising and public relations activities.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Athletic Department, University and the Foundation to analyze, coordinate and initiate revenue transfers, etc.
  • Coordinates and processes all paperwork for Athletic temporary staffing, graduate assistants and student employees.
  • Prepares NCAA Financial Report and Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act reports. Prepares the NCAA Financial Audit (every three years) and works with the external auditors to finalize.
  • Works with the Associate Athletic Director to develop, review and update the accounting portion of the athletic policy and procedure guide.
  • Participates in the Athletic staff meetings, which includes instructing the staff and coaches on the athletic budget and policy matters.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; two years of experience in accounting, with intercollegiate athletics experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES :
  1. Accounting practices.
  2. Knowledge of purchasing and budgeting guidelines and practices; NCAA rules and regulations is preferred.
  3. Analyzing Budget and Accounting information.
  4. Computerized accounting systems and basic office software, including Excel and Word.
  5. Organization and time management.
  6. Communication, as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.


Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with NCAA Financial reporting.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Physical Demands
  • Light Work:
    • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Minimal travel may be required.

Hours of Work

8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday – Friday
Some nights and weekends required.
