The Norris-Vincent College of Business at Angelo State University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty appointment.  The position will entail a tenure-track assistant professor faculty appointment at Angelo State that will include duties as an untenured research assistant professor at The Free Market Institute (FMI) at Texas Tech University.  Successful applicants will have a capacity to teach a variety of economics courses in support of a new business economics major at Angelo State and to advance the FMI’s mission through an established record and/or a demonstration of potential to execute a promising agenda in research related to the theory, history and practice of free markets.  Teaching assignments will include undergraduate and graduate courses delivered via both online and in-person sections. Publication in peer-reviewed journal articles is required for tenure and promotion. Candidates with knowledge of Austrian economics, public choice, new institutional economics, economic development, and Latin American economics are particularly encouraged to apply.   The faculty member will be expected to participate in FMI research workshops, reading groups, and provide other service to the Institute’s programs, in addition to their normal faculty duties at Angelo State.

About the Norris-Vincent College of Business

The College of Business at Angelo State University was recently renamed as the Norris-Vincent College of Business. This renaming was to honor a multimillion-dollar gift by Lloyd Norris and Blake and Brian Vincent. This gift represents a significant commitment on the part of the donors to support and fund the educational programs of the College as it continues to provide high quality education for the citizens of the State of Texas and beyond. In addition, the gift also will provide for faculty and student development as the College has recently received AACSB accreditation. There are three departments in the College: Accounting, Economics, and Finance; Management and Marketing; and Aerospace Studies, which houses an award-winning Air Force ROTC detachment. In addition, the College is also the home for the ASU Small Business Development Center and the Center for Student Success, which provides advising and career services for all business students. The College has approximately 1,000 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students, awarding approximately 160 undergraduate and 50 graduate degrees each year. There are approximately 27 full time faculty, 12 part-time faculty, and 15 full time staff in the College.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in economics or a closely related field (ABD’s will be considered)
  • Scholarly Academic (SA) status at time of appointment
  • Effective teaching record, and willingness to teach both online and face-to-face
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills
  • Record of, or potential for, scholarly research and publications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in, and the ability to teach and research in the following subspecialty areas:
    • Austrian economics
    • Public choice
    • New institutional economics
    • Economic development
    • Latin American economics
