The School of Integrative Physiology and Athletic Training at the University of Montana invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Exercise Science, tenure track position with specialization in Exercise Science.  Position to begin August 2022.

Responsibilities:

Teaching: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in varied areas of Exercise Science commensurate with areas of expertise.  Primary teaching responsibilities will vary depending on each candidate’s specific area(s) of expertise. Demonstrate a strong commitment undergraduate and graduate student (M.S., Ph.D.) mentorship.

Scholarly Activity:  1) Demonstrate research expertise in Exercise Science which may compliment and/or extend current research in the school (IPAT), 2) Demonstrate a commitment to publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and continued interest and success securing extramural funding. 

Service:  Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and professional organizations.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • An earned doctorate in Exercise Physiology, Integrative Physiology or a closely related field.
  • The successful applicant will demonstrate:
    1. Evidence of successful classroom and laboratory teaching experience related to Exercise Science
    2. Evidence of scholarly achievements and will be expected to develop/maintain an independent and extramurally funded research program
    3. Ability to work in a collegial atmosphere with undergraduate and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) students and colleagues

 For Associate:

  1. Evidence of extensive scholarly activity/research and peer reviewed publication
  2. Evidence of extensive successful prior and current extramural funding
  3. Prior undergraduate and graduate teaching experience, record of excellence in student engagement
  4. Evidence of research mentorship at the M.S. and Ph.D. level

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate funding and program development to diversify facilities for teaching and research
  • Evidence of funding from varied sources (i.e., NIH, DOD, NSF, AHA, or industry)
  • Prior experience with successful human subject research models with varied populations
  • Post-doctoral training
  • Recognized certifications in the field of Exercise Science
