Department / Job Summary:

The Division of Deaf Studies and Professional Studies seeks qualified applicants for a non-tenure-track position in teaching and clinical coordination with clinical supervision in rehabilitation and mental health counseling.

The Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (RMHC) program is nationally accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The RMHC program utilizes hybrid and online pedagogies and meets in the Salem campus. Residency is not required, but campus visitation and hybrid in-person teaching are required. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure position. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and degree. Western Oregon University is an emerging Hispanic Serving Institution. The Teaching and Clinical Coordinator Faculty member will have responsibilities in the following categories. The percentage of teaching and clinical coordination is negotiable.

1. Teaching:
   1.  Developing new curricula, working closely with students, and teaching rehabilitation and mental health counseling-related courses. In addition to working closely with colleagues in the discipline, department, college, and university; strong working relationships must also be established with local and state social service agencies to ensure meaningful field-based experiences for the students in the program.
2. Clinical Coordination:
   1. Work closely with students in developing partnerships with state/federal rehabilitation and mental health offices as well as other community agencies; coordinating internship placement; recruiting appropriate volunteer clients for practicum; supervision of students in their practicum and internship courses. In addition to working closely with colleagues in the discipline, department, college, and university, strong working relationships must also be established with local and state social service agencies to ensure meaningful field-based experiences for the students in the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

• An earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program by the start date
• Experience and competence in teaching, clinical supervision, and clinical coordination
• One of the following by the start date: Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselors (CCMHC), other national or state professional certification.
• Showcase a strong commitment to social justice, diversity, and multicultural counseling

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) eligible for state of Oregon
• Experience providing direct counseling supervision and instruction specific to rehabilitation and mental health counseling
• Demonstrated understanding of the federal-state vocational rehabilitation system
• Has knowledge of local community-based mental health services or demonstrates the ability to form partnerships with local agencies.
• Bilingual (fluent in Spanish)

Start Date: September 16, 2022 or earlier if mutually agreeable
