Detailed Job Description
The Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences (GSoLS) at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position starting in August 2022. We seek a colleague/s who is well-versed in omics-based approaches to investigate fundamental and/or applied questions in biological and/or environmental processes. We envision this colleague will enhance our reputation in this area and support our teaching, research and scholarship missions. We highly encourage applications from candidates with research interests in the areas of immunology and/or microbiology. In line with our commitment to improving diversity and inclusivity in the sciences, we welcome applications from scientists who are members of underrepresented groups.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative faculty of biologists, bioinformaticians and environmental scientists. The new faculty is expected to direct the research of students at the undergraduate and master's levels, be an active contributor to GSoLS growth in -omics-based biology and/or environmental science and contribute to the development of a potential Ph.D. program in bioinformatics. They will also contribute to curricular improvement, and perform school, college and university service. Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels are expected, and those using innovative pedagogical approaches are encouraged to apply. The specific courses taught will depend on expertise. A Ph.D. and postdoctoral training (or equivalent professional experience) in a biological, environmental science, or related field is required. Candidates applying at the rank of Associate professor must have a documented history of achievement that merits appointment at that level. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a strong track record of publication in high-quality journals and their capacity to incorporate the in-house next-generation sequencing systems and omics approaches into their current and future teaching, research and scholarship.
