Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one university.

Description

To advance its position as a leader in the business of health, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School has select positions available for full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty at the full professor or associate professor level in the business of health. We invite applications for an appointment to begin in fall 2022, and will consider later start dates as well. We welcome applications from candidates motivated by the unique opportunity to participate in building a world-class business school at a premier private university. This position is open for both Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC campuses.

Many Carey Business School faculty engage in research relating to the business of health across multiple academic disciplines, including accounting, economics, finance, information systems, operations management, marketing, organizational behavior, health services, and health care management. We are building further expertise across these domains, seeking scholars with an outstanding record of research achievement, who also have a passion for delivering high quality business education to students.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have the following:
  • A PhD degree in a business or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated world-class academic research, excellence in teaching, and active in institution building.
  • Preferred record of interdisciplinary research, including with colleagues in the health care or life sciences domains.
The Carey Business School is the hub of research and practice in the business of health at Johns Hopkins University, and the desired candidate will have demonstrated success in building bridges with similar academic units over their own careers, as well as in the mentoring of junior faculty. The ideal full professor candidate will have an academic record suitable for a tenured appointment commensurate with the standards of a world class university, while an associate professor candidate should have strong promise of a trajectory leading to a future tenured appointment.

Our faculty teach classes in our MBA, MS, and undergraduate business minor programs. Evidence of successful teaching in a graduate business school environment is highly desirable but not required.

Applications MUST be submitted using Interfolio ( http://apply.interfolio.com/100224 ) and include:
  • Cover letter addressed to Dr. Valerie Suslow, Search Committee Chair
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Names and contact information of two references (confidential letters of reference may be requested at a later date)
The Search Committee will begin evaluating candidates in January 2022 and organizing interviews thereafter. Applications arriving later will also be considered, and the search will continue until the positions are filled.

Johns Hopkins Carey Business School conducts a pre-employment background check and degree verification on all candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer.

The search committee is dedicated to hiring candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service will contribute to the excellence and diversity of the Carey Business School, Johns Hopkins University, our students, and the broader academic community. The leadership, faculty, and the staff of the Carey Business School are committed to enhancing our school culture through an environment that welcomes and respects everyone.
