Job Description

Enterprise Systems (ES) is a unit within the Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Enterprise Systems supports the mission of the university by developing, coordinating, and managing application software systems that provide critical information services for university constituents.

The Senior Web Platform Engineer is responsible for the Virginia Tech content management platform. This person will manage the infrastructure and ensure the security and availability of the University's Adobe Experience Manager platform.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field or equivalent training and/or work experience.
- Demonstrated experience administering Apache HTTPD
- Demonstrated experience with Linux/UNIX systems and the best practices for deploying applications to those stacks.
- Solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, TLS, SSH, PKI, and distributed networks)
- Broad understanding of technology architecture and the complexities of enterprise-level applications

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience administering HTTPD at enterprise scale
- Experience administering Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
- Experience with content delivery networks (CDNs)
- Experience developing or supporting solutions in Docker
- Experience managing solutions in an AWS environment
- Experience administering Java web applications
- Experience using configuration, orchestration, and automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc
- Experience working in an academic environment
