Position Description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington is seeking to hire a full-time faculty member at the Associate Professor without Tenure due to funding (WOT) level to join the Division of Complex Family Planning (CFP). UW Medicine encompasses 4 hospitals including UW Montlake Hospital, Northwest Hospital, Harborview Medical Center and Valley Medical Center. The department supports a residency program, three fellowship programs and is a major teaching site for UW medical students.

The primary focus of the CFP clinician educator will be to provide clinical care and develop and deliver educational curricula specific for complex family planning. Clinical responsibilities will include staffing the Family Planning Clinic at the Roosevelt outpatient facility, covering abortions and other family planning surgeries in the operating room at UW Montlake, providing care at an independent abortion clinic in the Seattle area, and covering the family planning consult service. The educational responsibilities will be to direct resident education and participate in providing CFP Fellowship education, with the goal of eventually becoming director. The successful applicant will be expected to serve a diverse patient community and to provide direct teaching of medical students and residents.

In addition to subspecialty practice, candidates will have some portion of their clinical time spent on generalist OBGYN activities. These clinical responsibilities could include office practice in general obstetrics and gynecology, office-based procedures, gynecological surgery and inpatient obstetrics.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide evidence-based and patient-centered OB/GYN and CFP care and to collaborate and coordinate care in clinical teams that enhance the patient experience with a commitment to excellence in clinical care, patient safety, health equity and patient satisfaction.

Academic rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience.

This is a 12-month service period position (July 1 - June 30), with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2022, or sooner.

Qualifications
This position requires a MD or DO degree. A foreign equivalent is acceptable. All applicants must be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and have completed a CFP fellowship and have passed their Complex Family Planning boards or be board eligible. A foreign equivalent is acceptable. Candidates who have passed the certifying Complex Family Planning exam without graduating from a Complex Family Planning fellowship are also welcome to apply.

Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, fluency in Spanish or another non-English language.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
