Assistant Professor of Black Studies in Education

The scholar filling this position will conduct research that contributes to Black Studies in Education at a national level as well as its international implications. The successful candidate will bring a strong theoretical preparation in Black Studies and Education and expertise in the specificities of Black people’s experiences in society and related to education, broadly defined. The scholar filling this position will contribute to the GSE’s program in Education, Culture and Society within the Department of Educational Theory, Policy and Administration, and to strengthening the School’s theoretical rigor in Black Studies and its commitment to social justice and dismantling anti-Black racism. Faculty in the Department of Educational Theory, Policy and Administration contribute to masters and doctoral programs, focusing on issues of equity, structural inequality and social justice in education. Assistant Professor of Higher Education and College Student Affairs

The scholar filling this position will conduct a research and publication agenda that advances Rutgers Graduate School of Education’s pursuit of Advancing Excellence and Equity in Education; demonstrates scholarly productivity by publishing in peer-reviewed journals, securing external research support, and presenting at national and international higher education scholarly conferences; and contributes to the growth of both the Ph.D. in Higher Education and Ed.M. in College Student Affairs programs and related academic endeavors such as graduate certificate programs.  The incumbent will participate in program development and innovation and teach graduate courses in both the Higher Education and College Student Affairs programs. The scholar filling this position will advise master’s and doctoral students, participate actively in local, state, and national student affairs professional organizations, and contribute to the service missions of the Graduate School of Education and the university. Assistant Professor of Urban Education/Language Teacher Education

The scholar filling this position will join the GSE’s Urban Social Justice Teacher Education program and conduct research that advances knowledge in language, equity, and education for emergent bilinguals and will prepare future ESL, World Language and bilingual educators. The successful candidate will also contribute to the GSE’s program in Language Education. The scholar will contribute to the growth of teacher education and doctoral programs; participate in language education program development and innovation; and develop and teach courses in language education. The scholar filling this position may teach methods courses for emergent bilinguals (for ESL, WL, and/or bilingual students); language across content areas; sociolinguistics; or second language acquisition grounded in equity, community-engaged, and anti-racist frameworks. Additionally, the scholar will advise master’s and doctoral students; participate actively in local, state, and national professional organizations; and contribute to the service missions of the Graduate School of Education and the university.
