The IT Business Relationship Manager serves as a member of the staff of the Office of Academic Technology under Office of Information Resources & Technology and acts as a primary IT liaison between OIRT and the academic units assigned. The IT Business Relationship Manager will report directly to the University Director of Academic Technology, and will be deeply involved in IT project planning for academic colleges and prioritization efforts of IT projects. The IT Business Relationship Manager will also work to build and strengthen cross-university stakeholder relationships while coordinating university IT project planning and prioritization efforts. This position requires daily interaction with faculty and staff.

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or related area.

2. Technical training and/or experience to proficiently operate, utilize, troubleshoot and maintain applications such as LMS, Zoom etc. in an academic environment.

3. Recognized team leadership and group facilitation skills in complex situations.

4. Outstanding organization, planning and analytical skills. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

5. Comprehensive understanding of the concepts and processes that create great relationships and can demonstrate leadership skills in providing outstanding customer service in complex situations.

6. 3+ years of experience introducing business relationship processes in a higher education or professional setting.

7. Capable of handling confidential and proprietary information and using sound judgment in working with sensitive material.

8. Quick learner, able to come up to speed on IT systems and IT/business processes rapidly.

9. Demonstrated success working with academic unit partners to identify and prioritize those projects most likely to provide benefits in light academic unit and IT goals and strategies.

10. Master communicator – can “take charge of the conference room” and effectively lead projects in all forms of communication – faculty meetings, project meetings, stand ups, design sessions, brainstorms, problem solving sessions and retrospectives as well as excellent written communication skills.

11. Demonstrates the following interpersonal attributes: Adaptable, flexible; uses grace & tact under pressure; unflappable when confronting challenges; resilient; positive outlook and “can-do” attitude; respectful & approachable style.

12. Experience providing high-level technology faculty services in a higher education or professional setting.

13. Ability to work independently with little direction or direct supervision.

14. Experience in staff coordination and direction, preferably in an academic setting.

15. Strong proficiency in common computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

16. Must be available to work non-standard hours as required, including occasional evenings and weekends.

17. Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills related to academic applications.

18. Strong experience in working with hosted academic application vendors to ensure usability.

19. Valid driver’s license and accessibility to transportation for travel between campuses.

20. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security card.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES :

1. Facilitates meetings with academic units on topics related to IT project scoping, project planning, prioritization and IT resource optimization.

2. Manages and mentors a Business Relationship Manager team that builds and manages strategic relationships with business partners.

3. Acts as an advisor to business partners to shape their strategy with regard to technology and ensure they are aware of IT service offerings.

4. Helps define and communicate new services to support business needs.

5. Monitors that OIRT is meeting the academic expectations.

6. Refines Service Level Agreements (SLAs) based on business needs.

7. Builds and manages a relationship team to oversee “convergence and strategic partnering” across the academic units of the university.
8. Maintains creativity and innovation by staying on top of industry and technological trends.

9. Understands the strategies and plans of the partner’s department and helps develop an OIRT strategic plan/roadmap that maps to academic goals.

10. Works collaboratively with academic units to define and prioritize technology initiatives (new or enhanced services) that will bring the most business benefit.

11. Influences academic and IT stakeholders, through existing relationships, to move forward with OIRT initiatives that will benefit the department and the university as a whole and achieve stated objectives.

12. Understands at a high-level the services used by the faculty and how they are related to each other to achieve desired outcomes.

13. Builds strong, collaborative, and trusted relationships with academic units and within OIRT including but not limited to Leadership Team members, Service Owners, Project Managers, and Technical Management.

14. Assists the University Director, in further defining the business relationship model by creating, refining, and supporting BRM -related processes, such as role definitions, information gathering and dissemination, dashboards, communication channels, etc.

15. Responsible for preparing executive style presentations and communications.

16. Oversees maintenance of project documentation, writing user documentation and communications, designing test plans, and handling escalated support issues for academic units assigned.

17. Manages third-party partner and/or vendor relationships as required.

18. Provides technical and user support for the interactive television ( ITV ), Zoom, Qualtrics, MS Teams, Echo 360, Blackboard, Kaltura, Zoom room facilities and other academic applications as introduced at the university, including support for distance learning classes and faculty conducted in these facilities.

19. Maintains working knowledge of, and continuing developments in, the PC and educational technology field. Attends local events, meetings, trade shows and training sessions as required (e.g., NJ Edge Consortium programs, vendor conducted/sponsored training and events). Attends vendor provided/conducted training sessions on new/replacement equipment to maintain knowledge of equipment operation.

20. Prepares written documentation for operational processes, user instructions and software applications.

21. Researches, evaluates, and makes recommendations for the adding or improvement of existing software particularly used for teaching and learning.

22. Monitors help-desk tickets to ensure the academic needs are being met.

23. The IT Business Relationship Manager must be flexible to work evening hours and weekend coverage, and work under time sensitive deadlines

24. Performs other work related duties as assigned.
