Class Description

The Dean, Online Learning is directly responsible for academic leadership to create learning environments for students, offering rigorous Online learning programs; maximizing student success and overseeing CCBC’s Online Learning growth efforts. Providing the academic vision, leadership, and policy direction required to achieve the highest standards of excellence in Online instruction, with measurable outcomes. Responsible for the development, recommendation, evaluation of programs and for the quality of teaching Online learning. As well as for growing the college’s thriving Online offerings on a regional, national and global scale.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale .

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in Education or related discipline from an accredited institution. Five (5) years of demonstrated operations, process, and project management experience including five (5) years in a leadership role overseeing Online Learning in higher education. Prior demonstrable academic administration and supervisory experience to include supervising faculty, scheduling classes, and other administrative experience in academic affairs is required, preferably in Online education. Two (2) years of Online teaching experience preferred. Prior demonstrated success in growing Online education and training, both credit and workforce education and training required.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Develop, articulate, and implement the vision for the growth plan for Online Learning.
  2. Develop short and long term plans to increase the quality, scalability and sustainability of student learning opportunities.
  3. Develop and implement short and long range strategic plans to advance and grow the College’s mission in growing Online Learning.
  4. Provide innovative and entrepreneurial opportunities to grow online enrollments and revenue primarily focused on attracting new students and customers – non-credit or credit.
  5. Hire, evaluate, and supervise assigned staff.
  6. Work closely with key stakeholders to identify and design flexible learning environments that support high quality instruction.
  7. Develop a strategy for reimagining the working adult degree programs, identifying online pathways for students to earn certificates and/or degrees.
  8. Provide leadership in relation to College goals by recommending and administering the initiation, sustaining, delivering and possible termination of various current Online Programs.
  9. Provide supervision of Online Learning compliance and accreditation standards. Including regulations relating to Online Learning programs state, regional and national authorization and accessibility compliance.
  10. Oversee the creation of innovative online class schedule.
  11. Coordinate the development of new and the review and possible revisions of existing curriculum, consistent with CCBC’s standards of excellence.
  12. Develop and review budget preparations and oversee budget management.
  13. Demonstrates experience and familiarity with D2L Brightspace (or LMS equivalent)

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Assess existing Online Programs for enrollment maximization.
  2. Develop policies and procedures for the management of online courses and programs.
  3. Develop marketing proposals and manage the systems for disseminating distance education information.
  4. Develop multi-year plans for phased in growth.
  5. Supervise the development of targeted new curriculum, utilizing CCBC’s curriculum development and approval procedures.
  6. Assist with the development and coordination of an effective marketing strategy for online programs, within the context of CCBC’s general marketing efforts.
  7. Work with School Deans to coordinate online offerings in Continuing Education and in Credit.
  8. Effectively utilize Assessment of Prior Learning to build online enrollment and completion.
  9. Monitor the compliance with state, regional and specialized accreditation standards.
  10. Fosters collaboration among disciplines, with faculty, staff and administrators college-wide to achieve growth in Online offerings
  11. Attend staff meetings related to Online Learning for the College.
  12. Develop four-year college partners and strengthen coordination with high schools, governmental and private training funders.

Long-Term Disability

Plan pays 60% of gross monthly salary after 90 consecutive days of absence. Employee pays 100% of premium.
