Assistant/Associate Professor, Emergency Management 

The Professor in the Department of Emergency Preparedness provides educational services to traditional and non-traditional students during the day or evening; teaching doctorate, graduate and undergraduate level courses in Emergency Preparedness along with doctoral level research and advanced data analysis; and may be required to teach courses within his/her concentration area on campus, off-campus, online courses and possible videoconferencing depending on need of location.

We welcome applications from those with expertise in a wide range of emergency management fields, including focus areas in sociology, public administration, public health, urban and regional planning, and geography. We especially welcome candidates with a strong background in medical aspects of disaster management, biosecurity and public health emergencies. In addition to teaching, successful candidates are expected to develop externally sponsored scholarly research programs and supervise doctoral students in the program.

All applicants must have an earned doctorate in emergency management or in related disciplines.

The department has affiliations with FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Alabama Emergency Management Agency and the Eastern Alabama Emergency Management Coalition. These affiliations provide opportunities for collaborative research and professional outreach and development.
