Professor in Mechanical Engineering (AI/ ML)
Position Description: The Department of
Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University has an opening
for a tenure-track faculty member to start August 22, 2022. CSU is

applicants may be appointed as Assistant Professor or Associate

specialization in artificial intelligence, machine learning with a
focus on thermal/fluids/energy, manufacturing, or

Minimum Qualifications: All candidates must
hold both an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and an
earned doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-
related discipline with degree conferred on or before July 1, 2022.
Successful candidates will demonstrate potential for teaching
excellence and the highest standards of scholarship and
professional activity in their research areas.

Cleveland State University is a state-assisted metropolitan
university in the city of Cleveland with approximately 17,000
students. The university is well-known for its interdisciplinary

and the NASA Glenn Research Center. The Mechanical Engineering
Department provides a rigorous education in the principles of
mechanical engineering, supplemented by practical hands-on
experience and communication skills to transform students into
well-rounded and competent, ready-to-go engineers. The department
offers doctoral, master’s, and an ABET-accredited bachelor’s
degree, with currently 400 undergraduate students and 150 graduate
students [AvdB1]. Current areas of research include manufacturing,
wind energy, turbomachinery, human-machine systems, rehabilitation
engineering, and control systems.
