Summary:
The President and the Board of Trustees of the University of
Arkansas System invite letters of nomination and applications for
the position of Vice President of the Division of Agriculture of
the University of Arkansas System. The Vice President for
Agriculture serves as the administrative head of the unit
representing land grant extension and research and reports directly
to the President of the System. The Division of Agriculture is
headquartered in the University of Arkansas System Offices in
Little Rock, AR.
The Vice President for Agriculture provides statewide leadership addressing the needs of agricultural commodity organizations, agribusinesses, and rural communities. This includes direct interaction with diverse stakeholders at the local, state and federal level.
Agriculture is the backbone of the Arkansas economy, accounting for approximately one in seven jobs. Combined, agricultural industries account for more than $19.4 billion of the value added to the Arkansas economy annually and contribute more than 14% to the state’s total valued added. The Division of Agriculture is a major player in providing research and extension work in support of agriculture, as well as helping to train its future workforce.
