The University of Nebraska at Omaha is seeking a

Director, Campus Recreation and Wellness Programs

Campus Recreation

The Director for Campus Recreation and Wellness Programs serves as the primary position responsible for overseeing the operations, facilities, and programming associated with the Wellness Center (Health & Kinesiology Building). The sub-units that make up with Campus Recreation department include: Aquatics, Competitive Sports, Injury Prevention and Care (IPC), Outdoor Venture Center (OVC), Strength and Fitness Programs, and Wellness Programs. Given the variety and scope of programming offered by the department, this position will also establish and cultivate strong working relationships that promote collaboration across the university including partners in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, and Athletics. This position will manage and provide oversight to the department’s $1.5 million budget. This position will directly supervise full time staff and graduate assistants and indirectly supervise over 175+ student staff. Facility management responsibilities span the Wellness Center (Health & Kinesiology Building) which includes a blend of academic and student recreation spaces, an indoor pool, and several outdoor fields. This position will also oversee large construction, renovation, and repairs of the Campus Recreation facilities. This position provides leadership to the department by developing and providing vision for the department including facilitating strategic planning and annual goal setting. Across all functional areas, this position will utilize best practices for assessment to ensure that student learning outcomes are achieved and assessment methods are used to inform program revision. Beyond the UNO campus, this position will also represent Campus Recreation locally, regionally and nationally in various communities of practice.

Required Qualifications:                                                                                                                                                                    

  • Masters degree in Physical Education/Recreation or related field.
  • 5 years of departmental leadership and management experience
