The Department of Physics and Engineering Science at Coastal
Carolina University invites applications for a Lecturer of
Engineering beginning August 16, 2022 in
support of its Engineering Science B.S. Program.
The successful candidate must be able to teach engineering
graphics/graphical communication, including experience with
SolidWorks or other CAD software, be able to teach
introductory engineering courses as well as relevant upper-level
courses in his/her discipline. The position carries a “5-5”
teaching load. The position will include service duty such as
participation in ABET-related program activities to
maintain ABET accreditation. After the first year,
academic advising duty with one course per semester release with
resulting “4-4” teaching load. The position is a renewable 9-month
appointment with the ability to work toward promotion to Senior
Candidates must minimally hold a B.S. in Engineering from
an ABET accredited program, have completed 18 credit
hours of graduate course work in a relevant engineering subject
matter area, have at least 2 years of teaching experience at
Coastal Carolina University, and be able to obtain E.I.T. status
within 2 years of their start in the position and P.E. licensure
within four years of their start in the position. As part of a
successful interview process, candidates will be expected to
provide a demonstration of teaching effectiveness and evidence of
understanding diverse populations. An MS or PhD in
Biomedical, Mechanical, Coastal or other engineering discipline is
highly desirable. Experience with remote teaching and online
learning would be additionally beneficial.
This is a 9-month appointment. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
