Assistant Professor - Literature
The School of Arts and Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a tenure-system Assistant Professor of Literature with a specialization in transnational diasporic literary studies. We welcome applications from candidates whose research and teaching focus is on the literatures of African, Arab, South Asian, Southeast Asian, or Latinx diasporas. The successful candidate's research may engage with theoretical problems and questions such as cultural histories and theories of race, the Anthropocene, post-humanism, gender and sexuality, or world-literary systems. A PhD in an appropriate field is required at the time of appointment. Teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses as part of our BA, MA, and PhD programs in Literature, and contributing, as appropriate, to interdisciplinary minors in African American and African Diaspora Studies, Asian Studies, and/or Latin American Studies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service. We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated ability (or for entry-level applicants, the potential) to lead and/or work collaboratively in settings comprised of individuals of diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives.
Review of applications will begin on January 14, 2022 and continue
until the position is filled.
Applicants should upload a cover letter; curriculum vitae; statements of teaching philosophy and research interests; teaching evaluations (if available); a writing/publication sample; a statement of diversity and inclusion (outlining how you have contributed to, or plan to contribute to, diversity, inclusion, and equity); and the full contact information for at least three academic or professional references via the online application at https://jobs.utdallas.edu/postings/17247
