Adjunct Faculty- Ethics/Philosophy

The Junior Year Ethics Experience Program in the School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences is seeking one or two candidates to teach some of our open sections. This course is an integral part of Lasell's Core Curriculum, and is required of all juniors.

We are currently looking for 1-2 instructors to teach open sections of the course. The courses are scheduled as face-to-face, on campus classes so availability for the specific course times is essential.

Course Times:
  • Monday and Wednesday 9:30 - 10:45
  • Monday and Wednesday 2:00 - 3:15

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide instruction for all sessions of assigned classes utilizing the common syllabus for the Junior Ethics Experience course and the university philosophy of Connected Learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty teaching other sections of the same course to ensure a signf degree of consistency across sections
  • Offer class meetings based on a common schedule, and share in the course-wide assignment preparation and grading.
  • Grade all course assignments in a timely and coordinated way with the other sections of the course. (sample assignments available)
  • Maintain a minimum of 1 office hour each week either on campus or through conference calling such as Zoom.
  • Incorporate Canvas (online learning platform) into the course (all assignments are turned in to you on Canvas).
  • Keep accurate records of student progress (grades), provide regular feedback to students, and complete mid-semester and final grade reports by registrar deadlines.

Qualifications:

A willingness to incorporate the college's Connected Learning Philosophy into the course as well as a master's degree in philosophy are required (doctoral degree preferred). Teaching experience in ethics (and critical thinking and/or logic) is a plus.
