About the Museology Graduate Program
The
Museology Graduate Program is a two-year, full-time, master’s
program on the UW Seattle campus. We accept 30-35 students each
year, and inspire them to use museums to build strong communities.
We are an interdisciplinary program in the UW’s Graduate School,
and our 4 full-time faculty and 14 guest faculty have academic
appointments spanning multiple UW colleges or schools.
Diversity and equity are core values of the Museology Graduate Program. Our commitment to these values is visible in i) our student recruitment process, where we actively try to diversify our student cohort; ii) our curriculum, for example our new course in Museums and the Movement for Racial Justice; iii) our paid internship program, which makes museum jobs accessible to all of our students; and iv) our lasting partnerships with cultural institutions such as the Burke Museum of Natural History, the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific Experience, and the Northwest African American Museum. The successful applicant will be expected to foster and engage in equity work in their teaching and leadership.
