Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager, Recreational Sports will be responsible for coordinat ing and supervis ing Recreational Sports including informal club sports, intramural sports, special events, and fitness & wellness programs. W ill c oordinate and supervise student workers and part time support. R esponsible for m aintain ing and monitor ing corresponding budgets and expenditures for all program levels.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage all operations of the college's recreational sports & fitness program, including the hiring and supervision of employees, and budgeting
  • Coordinate, schedule, and evaluate campus-wide intramural sports and wellness programs; this includes contracts, PR, facilities and safety logistics, recruiting and coordinating volunteers, and assisting with campus calendar management in R25
  • Ensure attendance, performance, and adherence to college and Wellness Center policy and procedures
  • Supervise the daily operations of recreational facilities, which include but are not limited to scheduling, facility management, risk management, and general policy control, schedule and facilitate departmental staff meetings
  • Hire, train, schedule, develop, and monitor departmental staff
  • Respond to members and students' questions or complaints in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with the graphic designers to create department marketing materials and reserves
  • Develop, participate, and promote programs emphasizing wellness and the importance of a healthy lifestyle; evaluate programs and make revisions to processes and procedures if needed
  • Provide individual support or counseling in general wellness or nutrition
  • Maintain inventory for Recreational Sports, events, and wellness programs; collect, report and assess data pertaining to recreational sports programs, facilities, and services; track and record daily statistical information regarding event participation
  • Maintain a working order of assistive technology used by students; upgrade and maintain software and recommend new technology or practices based
  • Manage the facility rental process for the Fitness Center & Recreational Facilities event spaces including conceptualizing events
  • Monitor and control resources needed within the department; submit requisitions and follow up with reconciliation documentation; assist with building, managing, and analyzing the departmental budgets
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

    PHYSICAL ABILITES :

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS :
    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with i nternal and external contacts as needed to carry ou t the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with min imal exposure to safety hazards
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 year s of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    Salary

    Hiring salary range is $43,070 to $49,531.

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
