Madisonville Community College is inviting applications and nominations for the position of Provost.  The College seeks a forward-thinking leader who will advance the College’s mission of access and success for students in the five-county service region.  Madisonville Community College is one of 16 colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

Madisonville Community College is centrally located along the I-69 corridor in beautiful rural Western Kentucky, with easy access to Evansville, Indiana; Owensboro; Hopkinsville; and Nashville, Tennessee.  MCC has four campuses and serves Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Caldwell, Webster, and Crittenden Counties.

Position Summary:

The Provost is responsible for the planning, development, and administration of the college’s educational programs and student services.

As the Chief Academic Officer of the college, the Provost ensures the academic integrity of the college and supports innovations in programs and methods of delivery that will respond in a timely manner to a rapidly changing environment.

As Chief Student Affairs Officer of the college, the Provost provides leadership, vision, direction and advocacy for a comprehensive array of student affairs, which support completion and students’ success in meeting their educational goals.

The Provost will ensure that the Academic and Student Services divisions of the college will meet performance funding benchmarks.  The Provost will report directly to the President of the college and will serve on the college’s Executive Team.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participates as a member of the President’s Executive Team and the President’s Cabinet.
  • Oversees annual planning for the Academic and Student Affairs Divisions. Guides the divisions in meeting goals of the college’s strategic plan.
  • Creates an inclusive environment and ensures a diverse and representative population of faculty, staff, and students through recruitment, enrollment, and retention of populations who represent a wide range of age, ethnicity, national origin, and ability.
  • Oversees the systematic and routine assessment of all academic and student affairs programs and services to measure and plan continuous improvement.
  • Monitors activities and makes data-driven decisions in the Academic and Student Affairs Divisions that meet the requirements of the performance-based funding model.
  • Ensures the growth of student honors programs in the college.
  • Supports the college’s Strategic Enrollment Management plan. Monitors the implementation of the plan.
  • Ensures access to a comprehensive program of student development that includes career planning, transfer advising, and student life activities to promote growth and leadership development. Collaborates with officers of area institutions, transfer institutions, school districts, government agencies, and community organizations to promote academic partnerships, scholarships, and resources.
  • Ensures that the activities of the Academic and Student Services Divisions meet the requirements of SACSCOC.
  • Ensures that academic units meet requirements of programmatic accrediting and licensing agencies.
  • Reviews program offerings annually to ensure that academic programs support the needs of the community and industry.
  • Works closely with Workforce Solutions Division to develop non-credit to credit opportunities and develop new programs.
  • Provides leadership in the incorporation of instructional technologies to improve student learning.
  • Maintains regular communication and working relationships with other areas of the college, keeping them informed of current activities and working with them to achieve institutional priorities.
  • Guides the faculty promotion and tenure processes.
  • Monitors and manages budgets for the Academic Affairs and Student Affairs Divisions. Monitors fiscal viability of all programs.
  • Manages performance evaluations for faculty and staff in the Academic and Student Affairs Divisions.
  • Supports professional development programming for faculty and staff in the Divisions of oversight.
  • Completes special assignments as requested by the President.

 Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • 5 years community college experience.
  • 5 years demonstrated successful experience in progressively responsible teaching, educational leadership, and administrative roles.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  Preferred Experience:

  • Prior administrative responsibility under a performance-based funding model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum design and development.
  • Prior responsibility administering and managing budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and promote student groups and organizations.
  • Demonstrated significant experience with SACSCOC and strategic planning.
