Pending availability of funding, a postdoctoral scholar is needed at the University of California, Irvine, to support research on Computer Science for All. Research will support federally funded projects that are designing, implementing, and evaluating computational thinking curriculum for diverse upper elementary school students, with a focus on the needs of English learners and other culturally and linguistically diverse learners. Research will include designing curricula; designing and implementing professional development activities; collecting and analyzing data; writing reports, articles, and presentations; preparing grant proposals; managing relations and communications with school districts and university partners; supervising undergraduate and graduate student researchers; and submitting and updating human subjects protocols.

 

Position will begin between July 1, 2022 (flexible) and continue for two years, with possibility of renewal pending funding.

 

Requirements:  Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Education, Computer Science, or a related field in hand by the start date and interest or experience in computer science education research. Interest or background in instructional design, quantitative data analysis, qualitative data analysis, data management, diversity and inclusion in education, K-12 education, curriculum development, teachers’ professional development, research-practice partnerships, and the education of English language learners are also welcomed.
