Senior Budget Specialist
Location: Moscow

Position Summary:
This position reports directly to the Director of Administrative and Fiscal Operations within the College of Science providing leadership, support, direction and training for financial support staff; making budget projections and developing and providing periodic reports for the Dean, Director of Administrative and Fiscal Operations, and other administrators reporting to the Dean; researching and resolving budget errors; and interpreting policies and procedures to ensure budget transactions are consistent with UI policy. Of highest priority will be the responsibility of managing the budgets for the assigned areas within the College of Science, calculating budget projections in association with management of funds, and creating and providing accurate budget reports. This position is responsible for processing expenditure and revenue transactions for the College of Science, disseminating information to departmental financial staff and faculty, and assisting with personnel action forms. This position also has responsibilities in supporting human resource processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Five years administrative financial support or bookkeeping experience
• Two years experience with grants management
• Experience interpreting and applying laws and regulations and developing, organizing, and implementing administrative projects and procedures
• Experience maintaining accounts and accounting systems; analyzing and interpreting financial information; developing financial reports; making projections; monitoring budget including allocating funds, expenditures and reconciling accounts
• Experience using personal computer to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors in Business or related field OR five (5) years related work experience
• Ability to act independently and exercise initiative and discretion
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work with diverse range of issues and activities
• Proficient in the use of the UI Banner system and Vandal Web
• Experience using the Stores module in the UI Banner system
• Proficient in the use of ARGOS as a reporting tool
• Familiar with University of Idaho Policy and Procedures
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel involved in the unit, the public and other agencies and organizations
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
