We are seeking a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist whose primary purpose is to perform the full life-cycle recruiting process including screening, interviewing, making the selection/hiring decision and extending job offers for a subject area(s) and/or administrative/support area(s) to support our ability to hire the best staff to work with our highly gifted students.

This position will partner with hiring managers, CTY HR and Central University Talent Acquisition to actively recruit and interview positions including K-12 teachers, teaching assistants, resident assistants, curriculum writers, administrative and other staff. This position will be required to consistently use our applicant tracking system and other required tools to complete their work. Additionally, recruiters will engage in proactive relationships with hiring managers to fully understand their needs and establish credibility and trust to make hiring decisions on their behalf.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting & Interviewing
  • Responsible for identifying top talent and converting prospects to active candidates and future employees. Conduct the screening and interviewing efforts to support high-volume hiring necessary to support seasonal and ongoing casual and limited hiring needs with focus on developing and maintaining a vetted pool of qualified candidates to meet the needs of CTY.
  • Manage all aspects of the requisitions process for needs in your assigned area(s) including working with CTY HR to post positions, tracking the status of each candidate in compliance with University policies, closing requisitions and requesting and fulfilling offers of employment.
  • Partner with CTY Sourcing team to build a qualified and robust pipeline of talent for roles in assigned areas.
  • Screen, interview and evaluate candidates for positions in assigned areas. Make hiring decision and extend offers as applicable. Conduct an average 20 interviews per week.
  • Assist with building and developing of all interview protocols with focus on eliminating bias and provide an equal opportunity aligned with our commitment to be an anti-racist organization.
  • In compliance with University compensation guidelines, determine and calculate salary offers, offer positions to candidates and arrange start date.
  • Manage multiple requirements, screen resumes and update candidate pipeline progress in CTY’s applicant tracking system.
  • Manage passive candidate workflow and ensure positive candidate and hiring manager experience.
  • Client Relationship Management
  • Cultivate effective business partnership with CTY leaders, managers, supervisors and staff. Partner with, educate and consult with hiring managers on recruiting process, candidate quality and expectations.
  • Establish regular communications with the hiring managers, such as 1-1 meetings, team meetings with established agendas or other regular touch points.
  • Partner with hiring managers and CTY HR staff to determine basic requirements and qualifications of positions to develop candidate profiles and selection criteria.
  • Leverage partnership with hiring managers to assist leadership in anticipating and identifying the present and future staffing requirements of assigned departments, obtain appropriate data, interview department leaders and function as project manager to ensure needs are met within desired timeframes.
  • Showcase an extremely high level of understanding and become fully engrained in client areas to build trust and credibility in the centralized hiring team.
  • Maintain consistency in messaging to client’s regarding changes to recruiting and hiring philosophy/approach and processes.
  • Candidate Experience Management
  • Proactively follow-up with candidates to ensure their understanding of open positions, the hiring process, etc. with focus on delivering an excellent candidate experience.
  • Effectively communicate hiring decisions to candidates.
  • Engage in post hire efforts to identify and understand retention promoters and blocker for assigned area(s).
  • Internal Collaboration
  • Partner with the Sourcing Consultant to proactively share information related to candidate quality to inform and assist in the measurement of source quality and effectiveness.
  • Partner with the CTY HR team, hiring managers and leaders on workforce planning, staffing needs and internal mobility across CTY programs.
  • Consults with CTY HR team as well as University central HR as needed to ensure talent acquisition needs are met without risk to compliance and other University guidelines.
  • Perform special employment projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, or another related field.
  • At least two years of progressive experience in high volume, fast-paced staffing, corporate recruiting, university recruiting or admissions capacity
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
  • Prior experience with technology applications including applicant tracking systems and CRM tools. Prior experience using Success Factors and/or Smartsheet is a plus.
  • Prior experience and skills using competency based behavioral interviewing techniques.

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to partner with and influence Hiring Managers as a talent advisor.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with little direction, prioritize workloads, multi-task and manage priorities in order to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of performing well against talent acquisition metrics.
  • Strong customer service skills with both client and customers. Flexibility in adapting to and responding quickly to changing priorities and deadlines with a high sense of urgency.
  • Familiar with employment law related to pre-employment screening, OFCCP and other regulations that impact the sourcing and hiring process.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and work appropriately with highly sensitive information.

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:

  • At least two years’ experience using applicant tracking systems.
  • Prior Success Factors experience a plus.
  • Able to work in a digital environment requiring strong technical skills (MS SharePoint, Box, Formstack, Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, Excel & PowerPoint etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and printer.
  • Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse pad and other office machinery.
  • Frequent communication with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations verbally and in writing.
  • Position also requires a degree of mobility common to working in an office environment; bending, kneeling or standing during events and presentations may be required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • May provide general direction/mentorship to part-time casual sourcing staff.
