Assistant Professor of History Department of History and Philosophy

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of History with expertise in the field of Latin American history in the Department of History and Philosophy. Strong scholarship, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement, is expected of all faculty members in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU. Faculty teach courses in various modalities, i.e.,

face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Teaching load is normally three courses per semester but is negotiable for faculty members with external grants or high research productivity. Salary commensurate with experience.

 

Faculty members are expected to teach and develop courses in their field (at the undergraduate and graduate level); teach undergraduate survey courses in world history; serve the department, college, university, and/or professional community; ensure and gauge student success; and produce scholarship appropriate for faculty at an R2 university with a "higher research activity" designation.

 

An earned Ph.D. in History, or the foreign equivalent, or related field is required by August 1, 2022, as well as a demonstrated record of research.

 

Preferred Qualifications Include

  • Evidence of scholarship/creative activities
  • A record of effective university teaching in online, face-to-face, and/or hybrid environments
  • Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community
  • International experience
  • Prior success in obtaining extramural funding
