Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
With an enrollment of over 1200 students, The Kennesaw State University School of Art and Design provides a rigorous education, offering a BFA degree in Art (concentrations in Art Education, Art History, Ceramics, Graphic Communications, Illustration, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Sequential Art, or Sculpture), a BFA in Digital Animation, and a BAT in Apparel Textiles Technology.
Our facilities provide students with state-of-the-art resources. The new space located at Chastain Pointe houses four large drawing and painting studios and an expansive printmaking area. 5 computer studios in the Visual Arts Building provide industry standard technology for our applied arts disciplines of Graphic Communications, Digital Animation, Illustration and Sequential Art. The Textiles facilities are on the Marietta campus.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine–month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Graphic Communications faculty position in the School of Art and Design beginning August 1, 2022.
Responsibilities
- Teach a range of undergraduate courses in the Graphic Communications program (up to six classes per academic year) with design, typography, print and package design
- Further develop the curriculum related to graphic design
- Mentor undergraduate students
- Actively engage in creative endeavors, and/or scholarly activities
- Participation in usual departmental activities, course development, and to serve on departmental and university committees as assigned
The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory through advanced-level undergraduate courses in graphic design and web design in regular rotation.
All tenure track faculty have teaching, service and scholarship/research activity expectations.
Required Qualifications
- A terminal degree, or a foreign equivalent, in Digital Art/Media, Graphic Design, or related field is required at the time of appointment
- Three years of teaching experience beyond graduate school
- Online teaching experience
- Strong background in graphic design
- Familiarity with design, typography, print and package design
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud on Mac OS platform
Preferred Qualifications
Additional expertise in a secondary area of specialization - such as interaction, accessibility, communication, or user-experience design; data visualization; or design history, theory, and criticism - that will contribute to and deepen the department’s course offerings is desirable.
