Department of Psychological Science

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for multiple research-intensive, nine- month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Psychology faculty positions in the Department of Psychological Science, beginning August 1, 2022. We are seeking applicants with a background in Clinical psychology, Sports psychology, and/or Experimental/Health psychology.

 

The Department of Psychological Science at Kennesaw State University is seeking applicants with a demonstrated record of impactful research, teaching excellence, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Research-intensive, nine-month tenure track faculty within the Department of Psychological Science are expected to engage in programmatic research that results in publications in refereed journals and extramural funding. Collaboration among scholars and research focusing on the advancement of military and/or first-responder populations as well as community health is encouraged.

 

Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate courses in their area of specialization, as well as courses that are part of the required core in the psychology major. The standard teaching load is 9 credit hours (i.e., 3 courses) per semester, and faculty on a research-intensive workload have a reduced course load. Faculty in the department have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and mentorship and to create inclusive learning environments for students with diverse backgrounds. Service to the department, college, university, and/or profession is expected.

 

The successful applicant will have demonstrated evidence of or very strong potential for extramural funding, experience publishing in refereed journals, and documented evidence of teaching excellence.

 

An earned Ph.D. in Psychology, or a closely related field, or the foreign equivalent is required. Exceptional ABD¿candidates will be considered, but the degree must be conferred by the beginning of the contract period.

 

Preferred Qualifications – Position Specific

Clinical Psychology - We are especially interested in applicants with culturally informed research focusing on military and first responder/community health and well-being. Strong candidates will be eligible for or licensed in the state of Georgia and have experience in the delivery of evidence-based behavioral health interventions. The potential for candidates to teach courses relevant to clinical/counseling psychology and/or required courses in the departmental curriculum, as well as contribute to the development of a graduate program will be considered.

 

Sports Psychology (emphasis Performance) – We are especially interested in applicants with a background in researching behavioral performance in athletic populations. Strong candidates for this position will have experience in grant writing and research conducted with military or military-relevant populations (i.e., firefighters, police officers, and Division I athletes). The potential for candidates to teach courses in their area of expertise and/or required courses in the

 

departmental curriculum, as well as contribute to the development of a graduate program will be considered.

 

Experimental/Health - We are especially interested in applicants with a background in experimental methodology and demonstrated evidence of working with vulnerable or underserved populations. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working on collaborative research teams and who have experience with externally funded research projects. Evidence of multidisciplinary collaboration and a dedication to multidisciplinary research is highly desired. The potential for candidates to teach courses in their area of expertise and/or required courses in the departmental curriculum, as well as contribute to the development of a graduate program will be considered.
