Assistant Professor of Geography Department of Geography and Anthropology

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Geography faculty position in the Department of Geography and Anthropology to begin August 2022.

 

The department is seeking applicants with expertise in physical geography and the ability to teach general education courses, including in weather, climate, and landforms. The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and will maintain a productive research program that can successfully compete for external funding.

 

Candidates should have a background in physical geography and will be expected to teach Weather and Climate and/or Introduction to Landforms. They will also develop and teach upper and lower division electives in their area(s) of expertise. Research on some element of physical geography that produces peer-reviewed, published work is required.

 

Strong scholarship, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement, is expected of all faculty members in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU. Faculty in the Department teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Some service to the Department, College, University, or professional community is expected.

 

Required Qualifications Include

  • A PhD or other terminal degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Geography or a closely related field is required by August 1, 2022.
  • A record of effective university teaching and demonstrated potential for

 

The ideal candidate will be capable of developing and teaching a field and/or lab class and have the ability to teach geospatial science courses (e.g., Introduction to GIS). They should also be able to include undergraduate students in their research and/or supervise independent research by undergraduates. They should show evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
