Job Description:

The Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida invites applications for a lecturer in the field of Citizenship and Civics. We are seeking a dynamic individual with demonstrated experience in student mentorship and in local, state, and/or national-based civic engagement, public leadership, and/or public service. The position is a twelve-month, non-tenure-accruing appointment, to be renewed on a year-to-year basis beginning spring 2022, with an opportunity for advancement in UF’s Lecturer track. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package.

The Bob Graham Center administers a variety of valuable experiential learning opportunities for UF students. The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Serve as the Center’s Experiential Learning Coordinator, which may include, but is not limited to, the following (40%):
    • Developing, managing, and coordinating the Center’s experiential learning opportunities and partnerships, such as UF’s Tallahassee Internship Program, UF’s Washington Internship Program, UF’s City of Gainesville Fellowship, and the College’s Beyond120 program. This includes coordination of placements and implementation of robust pre-departure training programs.
    • Liaising with external experiential learning opportunities, such as The Washington Center and The Gubernatorial Fellows.
    • Identifying and developing new experiential learning programs in partnership with the Center’s senior leadership team, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the broader University.
    • Serving as the Center’s representative on the College’s Experiential Learning Committee.
  • Serve as the program coordinator for the Center’s executive education initiatives, specifically the Florida Health Policy Leadership Academy, and work with Academy Director and Graham Center’s senior leadership team to manage major grants, projects, and deliverables. (25%)
  • Teach one course each fall, spring, and summer semester, related to civic engagement and/or public policy. This may include teaching the Center’s undergraduate civic engagement course, AMH2020, POS2041, the Center’s course in Florida politics connected to the Tallahassee Internship Program, relevant internship credits associated with the Center’s experiential learning initiatives, or other relevant topical courses. (25%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned to help develop and further the mission and expand the reach of the Graham Center locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally. (10%)

Expected Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum Requirements:
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Public Policy, Public Administration, or closely related field by August 15, 2022.
  • Three years of experience working in local or state civic engagement, public leadership, or public service-oriented positions, or equivalent experience in academic program coordination.
  • A commitment to working in and engaging with underserved communities and providing inclusive access to the Center’s programs and initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:

A doctoral degree or other terminal professional degrees, or equivalent relevant experience.
