The Department of Built Environment at North Carolina A&T State
University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty
position in the field of Construction Sciences and Management
starting in August 2022. The appointment is expected to be at the
Assistant Professor level. An appointment at a higher rank may be
considered for exceptionally qualified applicants. In particular,
the Department is seeking qualified candidates who can develop a
collaborative and innovative research program in one of the
following areas: construction estimating, construction scheduling,
building information modelling (BIM), structural systems,
construction materials, construction management, and environmental
issues in CM. Teaching and research skills in occupational and
environmental safety and health is a plus (i.e. OSHA 10-Hour &
30-Hour, HAZWOPER Training). The program should align with the
Department and the College's interest in Applied Science and
Technology.
The hired faculty is expected to show commitment to teaching and research excellence. She/he is expected to teach Construction Management courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, develop courses and curricula, assist in ABET assessment, student recruitment, direct students in research, and provide service to the University and community. The ability to teach courses in the EHS program (e.g., construction safety, fire prevention) is a plus. In addition to teaching, the ideal candidate is expected to develop and maintain a vigorous research program in Construction Science or closely related areas. Mentoring undergraduate research students is also expected as Construction Management majors in the department follow a curriculum where students are encouraged to be involved in research. Collaboration with colleagues from the sciences, mathematics and other technology areas is expected. Service to the department, college and university is also a requirement for the position.
