Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati School of Social Work is searching for a full-time faculty member who will contribute to the department's teaching, research, and service missions.  This is a 9-MONTH per year position with rank commensurate with education and experience.

Essential Functions
This position is primarily responsible for advancing a personal research agenda, teaching in relevant content areas, and service to the School of Social Work and College of Allied Health Sciences. Research activity includes, but is not limited to, pursuit of funding, student mentorship, and dissemination of research findings. Faculty from the Department and College enjoy several collaborations with highly regarded, local, health and educational entities such as the Cincinnati Public Schools, the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, and the Cincinnati Veterans Affairs, and UC Health as well as over 200 social service and behavioral health care agencies. Within the University, there are several collaborations with the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, as well as the Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy and Medicine, including University of Cincinnati Neurorecovery Lab, a lab dedicated to accelerating clinical and research program in stroke recovery and aphasia. The School also houses the James E. Gruber Endowed Fund for Aging Education which supports programming for interprofessional education in gerontological practice.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master of Social Work -AND- PhD in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
  • Minimum of 2 years post MSW practice experience
  • Prior scholarly works published or presented
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems
  • Strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, conflict management, and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to assist with tasks assigned by Department Chair
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Research expertise in in gerontology, substance use and/or health disparities or healthcare practice
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels
  • Demonstrated student mentorship experience
  • Prior grant funding
  • Experience teaching online
  • Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
