Academic Administration is seeking aDiversity and Inclusion Academic Program Manager who will be responsible for coordinating all Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) programming across all of our Masters and Certificate programs. The DI Program Manager will also manage all aspects of the Leadership Development Program (LDP) Certificate for Minority Managers, the Summer Business Academy (SBA), and annual Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Summit. The Program Manager provides overall program management, budget management, administration, and support to LDP, SBA, and the DEIB Summit programs.

This role is expected to make decisions and execute the varied duties and responsibilities independently, with minimal supervision. The Program Manager works closely with the Faculty Academic Program Directors, other Academic Programs staff, program faculty, academic advisors, career development staff, experiential learning staff, student affairs, and prospective and current students (including full-time, part-time, on-site, online, and hybrid students). The Program Manager will also work with various stakeholders in leading school-wide DEIB learning and programming. The Program Manager will be primarily located in Harbor East and from time-to-time required to travel to the Washington, DC campus. Off hours/weekends maybe required to accommodate program needs.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

    Efficiently and effectively manage all aspects of the Leadership Development Program (LDP) Certificate, Summer Business Academy, and annual DEIB Summit. In collaboration with the Academic Program staff, coordinate all DEIB programming across Masters and Certificate programs across 2 campuses (Baltimore and Washington, DC) and online. Develop and implement new strategies to provide co-curricular support both in-person and virtually. Lead monthly program meetings with staff and faculty stakeholders from various departments. Manage program budgets in collaboration with the Sr. Director of Academics and Associate Dean, provide insight and recommendations for budgeting. Participate in the development of the annual budget and projections.
  • Identify, develop and direct co-curricular programming aligned with the curriculum and core competencies to foster student and program faculty engagement.
  • Develop and implement solutions to improve the on-site and online student experience. Lead school-wide DEIB learning and programming to enhance student engagement and co-curricular experiences among students. Work with other Academic Program Manager and Academic Program Director in implementing curricular and co-curricular DEIB topics into our Master’s and Certificate programs. Serve on a school-wide DEIB Tactical Team to provide updates and ensure accountability for implementing the DEIB Roadmap. Collaborate with Career Development, Student Affairs, Academic Advising, Experiential Learning, Admissions and DAR, and other units to provide support to students. Work closely with the Faculty Academic Program Director, program faculty, and members of the Programs and advising team. Collaborate with the Sr. Associate Director of Academic Enrichment to ensure DEIB is incorporated (highlighted/focused/infused) into orientation, continuous onboarding, and residencies. Ensure all students meet program requirements. Collect, analyze, and communicate data to multiple constituents including the Sr. Director of Academics, Faculty Academic Program Director, the Associate Dean, and Carey’s Council on Equity and Belonging (CEB). Strategically Implement and/or design DEIB assessment and evaluation tools to document and track DEIB progress, challenges and areas for intervention and improvement. Evaluate and advise on long-range planning, new programs, and strategies. Manage annual review process for DEIB programs including collection of internal data and benchmarking against competitor programs Develop the operating procedures, protocols and flow charts for planning and organization of the program activities. Design DEIB program assessment and evaluation tools, track and document program progress, challenges, and areas for improvement. Design and manage the continuous program improvement cycle.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Admissions, and Development & Alumni Relations on engagement and promotional activities related to the program and DEIB efforts
  • Serve as the liaison among teaching faculty, administrative offices, and students.

Other Duties as Assigned:

    Provide support to other programs as needed. Serve on school-wide committees and attend major campus events (i.e., graduation, Career Development events, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university required.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in program management and/or administration in a business and/or academic environment.
  • Additional experience may substitute for graduate degree, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of individuals with different social identities, cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic classes, and life experiences.
  • Experience advising and counseling students.

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with pipeline programs, serving underrepresented minorities, or first-generation students.
  • Experience and passion for inclusion and equity work and programming for student populations.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Cultural competence; demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in multi-cultural environment.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and facilitating diversity, equity and inclusion support programs
  • Knowledge of academic programs, online learning, student advising, curriculum planning and corresponding program management and administrative functions in higher education.
  • Self-starter and ability to take initiatives and work independently.
  • Knowledge of workforce or workplace inclusion approaches and trends a plus.
  • Ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions on a daily basis.
  • Ability to set goals for herself/himself and members of the teams s/he may lead, develops strategies for meeting them, and achieves them with minimal oversight.
  • Knowledge of program budget development and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff and student workers.
  • Proactive in terms of seeking information to keep current on changes in procedures, requirements, etc. and developing proposed solutions for challenges encountered
  • Ability to anticipate situations that may impact projects and plan for the unexpected
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite software for corresponding, analysis, information storage, and presentation.
  • Excellent meeting planning and logistics management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a varied constituency including faculty, staff, students, and industry representatives.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willing to contribute wherever needed to ensure team success.
  • Knowledge of the programs at the Carey Business School (preferred)

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:

  • A DEIB certification (preferred).

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Supervisory responsibility may include up to one full-time staff member in an Academic Advisor, Academic Program Coordinator or Administrative Coordinator role and student workers.

  • LDP, Summer Business Academy, and DEIB Summit.
