Job Details
A Research Assistant, Level 2, position is available in the Department of Pharmacology & Physiology at Drexel University. The Sanz-Clemente Lab is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to participate in cutting-edge research investigating molecular mechanisms regulating Glutamate Receptor trafficking and exploring novel therapeutic strategies for neuropathies based on their modulation. The successful candidate is a highly organized person with laboratory experience in molecular/cellular techniques and rodent care. This person will help run the lab by ordering/inventorying reagents and lab supplies and ensuring overall lab compliance with all associated rules and regulations. They will assist other lab members by performing common laboratory tasks, taking care of mouse colonies and supervise/train new lab members. The research tech is expected to actively participate in lab meetings, create/develop/update research protocols, prepare draft manuscripts, perform/analyze relevant experiments, and intellectually contribute to the different research projects. The position allows the candidate to develop/conduct independent research projects under PI supervision.
Essential Functions
- Manage mouse colony
- Order/inventory reagents and lab supplies
- Ensure overall lab compliance with regulations
- Negotiate purchases with vendors
- Generate primary neuronal cultures
- Evaluate research methods and suggest options for improving experimental process
- Perform and train lab members in cellular/molecular techniques
- Prepare reports and draft manuscripts
- Active participation in lab meetings and scientific discussions
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 3 years of relevant experience
- 5 years of experience working in a lab
- Advance knowledge of mouse colony care
- Typically sitting at a desk/table
- Typically standing, walking
- Lifting demands up to 25lbs
