Job Details
Position Overview:
The Financial Aid Loan Counselor is under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Training and Compliance. Will assist with the administration process of all student loans. Will evaluate loan records and make award adjustments and recalculations to loan records when necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Director of Operations Enrollment and Financial Services and Financial Aid Counselors.
- Responds to inquiries by researching and resolving issues related to transactions handled by the department; serves as a liaison with other university departments in the resolution of day to day administrative or operational issues.
- Troubleshoots and resolves rejected loan records with COD for all DL Loans and Private Loans.
- Adds Plus and additional Unsubsidized Stafford Loans after Plus approval or denial reports from COD.
- Certifies Alternative Private Loans in ELM
- Assist with MPN and Entrance Counseling inquiries
- Assist in the preparation of the annual closeout of DL Loans.
- Update loan status in Banner.
- Participate in group work activities to solve problems or improve processes
- Complies with all policies and procedures
- Analyze, identify and solve problems while using sound judgement. Able to implement solutions to address issues. Knows who to involve and take appropriate action.
- Other duties as assigned.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
Related experience working with the financial aid process and/or finance
Customer service experience working with students
Experience working in an online computer environment or with personal computer applications
Ability to identify issues, investigate potential reasons and solutions, evaluate outcomes and develop the most efficient and effective plan of action for the situation
