About the Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Facilities Coordinator, perform duties to assure the interior and exterior maintenance, upkeep, and safety of the Burlington, Nahant and Dedham Campuses.

Responsibilities:
Perform morning inspection of building's general condition and cleanliness. Interact with building security personnel for any possible overnight occurrence, which may require attention. Work with Campus Administrator and/or Food Service on any special daily requirements or room set-ups. Coordinate with Campus Administrator on any special requirements for daily rental customers. Inspect Facilities daily/weekly as determined by supervisor. Perform minor repairs as needed and report any major repairs to Northeastern University Facilities Customer Service. Check all lighting fixtures daily and replace lamps as needed. Visually and physically inspect all mechanical equipment daily/weekly and report any needed repairs. Address all environmental issues, including but not limited to, proper storage and usage of all flammable or hazardous materials, proper elevator performance and accessibility of all handicapped entranceways. Ensure that proper classroom seating capacities are maintained and stock and clean classroom supplies as needed. Clean all doors and partition glass. Check all windows, blinds and cranks. Perform periodic inspections of cleaning and report any deficiencies to contract cleaning manager. Coordinate all waste and recyclable materials pick-up with the Associate Director-Materials and Recycling. Receive stock deliveries and stock supplies as necessary. Prepare and maintain a user friendly and safe building environment for faculty, staff, students and visitors. Perform all grounds responsibilities including sweeping, litter clean up, emptying exterior trash containers, grass mowing, leaf raking, pruning, planting, mulching and all general lawn and plant upkeep. Responsible for driveway and parking signage, parking lot and exterior building lighting and report any necessary repair requirements to proper university department for maintenance for all suburban campuses. Work, as directed by the Director of Building Services, with the university's contracted snow removal vendor. Shovel, sand or apply ice melt as necessary to provide and assure for a safe environment for all staff, faculty, students and visitors. Assist Campus Administrator with any related building requirements. Complete daily work log and report weekly. Perform other related duties as required or director by the Facilities Coordinator or other building administrator.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Driver's License and clean driving record. Must have a current D.O.T. certificate.

  • Valid 2-C or higher Massachusetts Hoisting license or successfully complete training and pass licensing exam within the first 90-days of employment.

  • Position is considered to be “Essential Personnel”. Position will be a permanent member of the snow removal team; duties to include being on call on a 24-hour basis during the winter months, shoveling snow and applying deicer, etc.

  • Position requires a criminal background check.

  • 40-hour work week; Schedule TBD

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Laboratory operations experience preferred.
