Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position includes responsibility for teaching (ENL101) English Composition I in various formats (face-to-face, remote, or hybrid) during the Spring semester (January 24, 2022 - May 16, 2022). ENL101 is an introductory college composition course required of all AA and AS-degree students and prerequisite to all other college-level English courses. It is designed to help students develop and express ideas clearly and effectively using standard American English through frequent writing and the study of rhetorical patterns of development. Students learn to write essays using a recognized scholarly documentation style.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
  2. Select and develop appropriate materials for each class use.
  3. Track and assess student progress.
  4. Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
  5. Participate in ongoing professional development.



Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in English or a closely related discipline and college-level teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Excellent writing skills.
  3. Experience developing and using various technologies (audio, video, podcasts, etc.) to enhance student engagement in active and collaborative learning.
  4. Experience using evidence based best-practices in online learning pedagogy (e.g., frequent communication, active learning practices) that supports student success.
  5. Experience teaching a diverse student body at a community college or similar environment.
  6. Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.


ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Expertise in teaching English at the community college level.
  2. Experience using Moodle or other Learning Management Systems.

COMPENSATION : Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay scale. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
