Department Summary
The Data Science Program at the University of Oregon is a unique interdisciplinary program, teaching students how to extract knowledge and insight from data, empowering them to make decisions earlier, faster, better. At the University of Oregon, we bring our unique strengths as an AAU liberal arts university to the table - to not only ask what can we do with data - but what should we do. The Data Science Program is a key pillar of the university's Presidential Initiative in Data Science, which identifies data science as a priority area of institutional growth.
Position Summary
The Data Science Program maintains a pool of candidates interested in filling Pro Tempore Instructor positions as needs arise. Pro Tem faculty are qualified part-time or full-time instructors offered teaching opportunities based on course demand and staffing. Appointments are limited duration and potentially renewable for up to a total of three years.

We seek candidates with a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in relevant field.
  • Experience teaching
    Preferred Qualifications
  • A PhD in a relevant field or an advanced degree with significant professional experience in a related field.
  • Experience teaching courses in data science at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Experience supporting and enhancing a diverse learning and working environment.
