  • Administer academic policy in accordance with federal law, AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) guidelines, accrediting agency guidelines, and the University Catalog.
  • Manages the Office of the Registrar, including hiring and supervising staff, managing the office's budget, and ensuring the responsibilities of the office are being executed in an efficient, professional, and student-centered manor.
  • Coordinates with the Academic Steering Committee (ASC) to provide appropriate academic action for students who are not in good academic standing; handle routine and exceptional academic requests from students and parents; coordinate the academic petition and appeal process with appropriate ASC members and personnel; provide policy and best practice for academic curriculum and ensuring that new programs and courses are meeting federal requirements and Higher Learning Commission compliance.
  • Play a key role in curriculum management to ensure adequate but efficient balance of course offerings.
  • Play lead role in implementing new technologies and processes; Lead role in all new program technologies for the Student Information System and other programs that affect Academics on campus.
  • Work with new and current program initiatives to help determine viability of programs adjustments; including best practices, policy and procedure adherence and information gathering.
  • Collaborate with Academic Advising to ensure smooth transitions for all incoming students with registration and placement exams.
  • Provides leadership and supports Commencement program creation, diploma preparation, and participates in Commencement activities. Responsible for reviewing and checking audits and graduating all students.
  • Aid Institutional Research with Official Enrollment reports.
  • Work with National Student Clearinghouse and the NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System) to ensure compliance with all student enrollments throughout each semester.
  • Ensure accuracy of University Catalog for all policies and programs.
  • Set up Academic Calendar for all terms each year.
  • Represent Carroll University on task forces for outside initiatives i.e: CIC: Consortium for Independent Colleges, College Board America and Higher Education Regional Alliance: M-7.
  • Serve on campus committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least five years of progressive experience in higher education; preferably in a University registrar's office.
  • Experience managing an annual budget preferred.
  • Expertise in FERPA and other federal guidelines and compliance requirements.

Technology Skills:
  • Strong understanding of student information ERP systems.
  • Ability to use University software to create & maintain student records.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data with a variety of tools including Excel, Access, SPSS,
  • Experience with Cognos Impromptu or other report writing tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Project management skills preferred.

Human Relations Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across all functional areas of the campus, including faculty, staff, and senior administration.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to develop technical communication related to processes and procedures.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with leadership, management, students, parents, faculty and staff through a consultative, collaborative and active problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of students, parents and colleagues.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to lead and manage a strong team.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, organize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
