The American College of Financial Services – the nation's leading accredited institution focused on delivering applied financial knowledge and education is looking for an energetic and results-driven finance/accounting professional to join our high-performance team in the Finance & Risk Department. The role will focus on general ledger accounting and month-end close, payroll, accounts payable, special projects, and other responsibilities. 

 

 

Accounting duties include but are not limited to:

Assists with the monthly close process Preparation of journal entries related to revenue and expenses Reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts Performs bank account reconciliations, including follow up and adjustment of reconciling items Monitors and tracks activity in the College's endowment and other restricted funds Assistance with the annual financial statement audit Monitors and analyzes fixed asset activity and related depreciation Serves as backup for customer billing function, including verification of pricing and coordination with other departments as needed Provides backup to other functions within the department, including accounts payable and payroll Takes initiative and seeks process improvement opportunities within assigned responsibilities Payroll responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsible for the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for employees; review and ensure accuracy of timesheets; track and process garnishments and payroll deductions Responsible for processing and paying all applicable payroll taxes (bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.) Responsible for the coordination between Payroll, Human Resources, Budget, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g. labor" home" work, overtime, leave balances, headcount, and retirement contribution reports) Handle the administration of the electronic timekeeping system. Setup each employee, validate programs for employee charges and adherence to FLSA; monitor submissions of timesheets and ensure valid data transfers to/from the payroll service provider Possess general understanding of payroll tax laws, regulations, and best practices Accurate processing of required tax documents (W-2s) Responsible for having a general understanding of the Colleges 403B plan and processing employee and employer contributions into the plan electronically Assistance with the annual 403b and pension audits Accounts Payable duties include but are not limited to:

Entering vendor invoices into the accounting system Processing vendor payment activity Interacting with various staff levels across the organization Assists with maintenance of AP vendor master records, including new vendor setup, master data changes, and coordination with purchasing personnel Communicating with vendors Preparing vendor reports Researching invoices and payments Serve as point person for vendor and personnel queries Support and assist with department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules, etc. Accurate processing of required tax documents (1099s) This position is currently remote but will eventually be based in our King of Prussia office under a hybrid model defined by your supervisor once the building reopens.

Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or related field required 3-5 years hands-on experience performing key accounting, payroll, accounts payable or accounts receivable functions in a medium to large size organization (preferred) Strong skills in using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system. Netsuite, Paycom or similar systems experience a plus Excellent MS Word and MS Excel skills required; MS Access skill a plus Familiarity with Fund Accounting a plus CPA or on the CPA track a plus Payroll processing: 1-2 years (preferred) Success Factors:
