The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy (ELP) at the University of Utah invites applications for a new Career-Line position with the K-12 program. We seek a colleague to join our faculty in preparing Utah’s future leaders through dynamic and relevant courses, research, and leadership experiences. The new faculty member will partner with the Department to ensure program innovation, research-practice partnerships, continuous improvement, and our enactment of the principles of justice, equity, and excellence for all learners.

 Responsibilities for this K-12 Career-Line position in the Department of Education Leadership & Policy include:

  • Teach 6 core or required courses or course equivalents (e.g., administration, supervision, district coordination) in K12 masters’, Ed.D., or Ph.D. programs during the academic year and two courses during the summer session.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Departmental career-line and tenure-track faculty on recruitment. admissions, advising, and other continuous program improvement and accreditation efforts.
  • Advise students and serve on dissertation and capstone committees.
  • In collaboration with ELP program faculty, develop, coordinate, and support K12 district and charter partnerships to expand internships, research opportunities, and leadership preparation experiences.
  • Support Departmental and Faculty efforts to acquire external funding to support graduate level training and K12 program development initiatives. 
  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 POSITION RANK: This is a regular, full-time career line position on 11-month contract. This search is open rank.

 APPLICANT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy, or equivalent field.
  • Three or more years of administrative experience as a principal, or equivalent, in a K-12 setting. 
  • Evidence of successful leadership within a school or district, including providing instructional leadership, developing a collaborative environment, promoting equity, and improving educational outcomes for all students.
  • Ability to teach at the graduate level.
  • Evidence of the ability to develop and maintain relationships and collaborations within the K12 community at the local, state, national, and with K12 professional organizations.

 APPLICANT PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • License in K12 Leadership/Administration
  • Three or more years of teaching experience in a K12 setting
  • Teaching experience in higher education in a Department of Educational Leadership and Policy, or equivalent.
  • Experience as district or state-level leader (e.g., Director, Associate Superintendent, Superintendent)
  • Experience in designing and implementing professional learning experiences for adult learners
