The Department of General Business, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management (GMSC) of the Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB), at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) invites applicants for a tenure-track position in Project Management and Process Improvement (PM/PI) to begin Fall 2022. The Marilyn Davies College of Business is accredited by AACSB and enrolls approximately 2,500 undergraduate and 1,100 graduate students.
We encourage a pedagogical approach to teaching that emphasizes practical applications. Faculty are expected to teach courses offered at the primary campus located in downtown Houston, as well as off-campus locations located in suburban Houston. The courses are offered during the day, evenings, and weekends, as needed to serve the students and may include, face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
The selected candidate will have teaching responsibilities in the areas of graduate and undergraduate project management and process improvement, including, but not limited to: MBA 6381 Project Management Overview, MBA 6382 Project Life Cycle: Initiating/Planning, MBA 6384 Change Mgmt. & Leadership, MBA 6383 Project Life Cycle: Monitoring/Controlling, MBA 6385 Process Imprv. Tools & Techniques, MBA 6386 Process Improvement Applications. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining and managing the curriculum of the PM/PI graduate concentration of the MBA. The selected candidate will be expected to create and maintain a stream of quality research leading to peer-reviewed publications relevant to this curriculum.
The ideal candidate should be an experienced professional in managing process improvement efforts, leading projects, and have experience in higher education. ABDs are encouraged to apply but would be expected to complete their degrees within one year from the beginning of the appointment.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A PhD or other relevant terminal degree in a field closely related to Project Management and/or Process Improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work history in one of Houston’s primary business sectors
- A business degree from an AACSB-accredited business school
- Experience managing significant projects
- Experience managing process improvement efforts
- PMP Certification
- ScrumMaster Certification
- Six Sigma Certification
- Evidence of excellence, or potential excellence in effective teaching using a variety of methodologies and scholarly activities
