Visiting Assistant Professor of Public Health

St. Lawrence University invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position in Public Health to begin August 15, 2022. We are interested in a broadly trained public health scholar with a transdisciplinary approach to the practice of public health. Applicants whose interests include social determinants of health, and community-based or participatory research methods are particularly encouraged to apply.  St. Lawrence University’s Public Health program includes a minor and a major under development. The program curriculum is firmly rooted in the liberal arts and allow students to choose from more than 70 courses across 20 different academic departments/programs. In addition, students are required to undertake an experiential learning component (ELC) where they are pushed to experience public health outside of the classroom. Our curriculum values diversity and inclusion, community engagement, and social justice while guiding students to understand the historical and social roots of health inequities.

The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Public Health, Epidemiology, Public Health Research Methods, and upper-level courses in their area of expertise. The teaching load is three courses per semester.  Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching, active scholarship, and a commitment to undergraduate education.  We encourage applications from candidates who bring diverse cultural, ethnic and national perspectives to their scholarship and teaching.

Minimum Qualifications

A PhD in public health, epidemiology, community health, or a related field, or DrPH is required at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal degree from a CEPH accredited school of public health is preferred.

Interested applicants must apply online at http://employment.stlawu.edu uploading all required materials which are defined in the “special instructions to applicant” section.  Review of applications will begin January 15, 2022, and continue until the position is filled. Questions about the position may be sent to Dr. Leah Rohlfsen (lrohlfsen@stlawu.edu), Search Chair.

All offers of employment are contingent upon the finalist successfully passing a background (including criminal records) check.
