ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGINEERING

ANNOUNCEMENT:  Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for one full-time faculty position in the Engineering program within the Division of Arts and Sciences.  This is a tenure track position. The appointment will be made for the 2022 Fall semester beginning August 2022. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this faculty position includes developing, teaching and maintaining courses in Engineering, including electrical circuits, analytical mechanics: statics and dynamics, mechanical, and graphics course offerings.  Teaching duties include both lecture and lab components of courses taught as well as coordinating lab equipment, supplies, and maintenance needs with other faculty in the Physical Sciences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degrees in Engineering required, PhD degree in Engineering, with courses in electrical circuits, analytical mechanics: statics and dynamics, and graphics preferred.
2. Successful teaching experience in higher education is strongly preferred.
3. Experience with computer-based and Internet (online distance learning) instruction preferred.
4. Experience in working with diverse student populations is preferred.
5. Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Board of Trustees for any assigned courses.

SALARY:  This is a nine-month teaching position with the salary determined by placement on the base salary schedule.  The actual salary is determined by educational level and placement on the appropriate salary schedule.  Overload and summer teaching assignments may also be available which would increase the annual compensation.  The college offers a comprehensive flexible benefit program.
