POSITION DETAILS

Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Deputy Director will work with the Director in strategic planning, budget management, assessment, resource development, personnel leadership, implementing policies with a culture of compliance, scheduling, communications outreach, managing all special events and space rentals. They will be actively involved, yet not limited to: the management of day-to-day operations (practices/competitions) of 18 teams, enhancement of the student athlete experience, academic support programming, continue to broaden our Diversity and Inclusion environment and alumni outreach. In the absence of the Director, supervise all activities of the office and represent the department and college at internal/external meetings with the NCAA/CUNYAC and others as assigned. Will perform coaching responsibilities as needed; such as managing aspects of teams' activities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree with six years of progressively responsible full time experience in an intercollegiate athletics environment are preferred. The candidate must have strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple demands, various projects and meet deadlines. Experience in supervising Student Athletics Trainers. Familiarity with game management, social media platforms, and NCAA requirements from statistics to bylaws. Excellent oral, written, computer/technology, social media and interpersonal communication skills are essential. Experience in an urban, diverse, dynamic, team oriented, as well as a self-motivated environment.

  • Manages selected aspects of intercollegiate, intramural and recreational athletics staff, programs, facilities and activities.
  • Oversees and coordinates day-to-day operations for varsity sports, supervising coaching and event staff
  • Manages one or more athletic facilities
  • Administers scheduling and other arrangements for athletic contests and events
  • Supervises the intramural and recreation program
  • Produces athletic publications through various media sources; develops and produces marketing and promotional programs
  • Maintain computer files, statistics, and reports on all data related to the athletics program
  • Oversees academic progress of student athletes and works with other College units to assure their academic and personal success
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
