Coordinates and provides senior-level administrative support to an ongoing program at the University.

  1. Coordinates program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives.
  2. Participates in planning and develops methods for program implementation and administration; coordinates program activities and processes.
  3. Reviews program records and reports of activities. Recommends modifications to methods or procedures as required.
  4. Prepares recurring and ad hoc program reports for management use.
  5. Assists in preparing reports, proposals, manuals, and other documentation as required for the program.
  6. Participates in budget planning and is responsible for controlling expenditures in accordance with budget allocations for the program.
  7. Conducts formal training or gives instruction regarding program policies and procedures.
  8. Interacts with faculty, staff and students to promote the goals and objectives of the program.
  9. Develops and maintains database on research studies, policy issues, etc.
  10. Performs other job related duties as required.

Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Residential Life, the Coordinator for Assessment and Conduct coordinates Student Housing & Residential Life (SHRL) assessments and residential life conduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains the SHRL progress card which contains data points related to student success initiatives such as retention to the institution
  • Heavily contribute to the department Annual Report, Semi-Annual Report
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director to lead the SHRL Assessment Plan, coordinating all areas in the department
  • Maintains departmental assessment instruments iClicker (or other assessment instrument program) for the department
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize results of data collection to showcase student learning and student success initiatives within various areas of residential life (student staff, iClicker, Living Learning Communities, Faculty in Residence program, student leadership organizations, Cougar Experience Scholars, and residential programming). Collaborate with the Marketing to provide materials for multiple media.
  • Assists SHRL paraprofessional and professional staff in designing, implementing, and interpreting assessment activities (including survey design and data analysis)
  • Analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data for the department such as from meaningful conversations and academic interventions to tell our assessment story; collaborate with Marketing to provide materials for the website.
  • Works closely with the SHRL Assessment Committee
  • Manage the SHRL assessment reports
  • Reviews all incident reports for SHRL and assigns to other SHRL conduct officers; trains student and professional staff in SHRL on the Student Code of Conduct, conduct processes, and the operations and management of the conduct database
  • Supervises an administrative support staff member who will schedule all SHRL conduct cases.
  • Create, charge, and hear student conduct cases. Issue sanctions, complete all corresponding paperwork, maintain records and database for conduct caseload within prescribed timelines.
  • Administer sanctions based on an educational and developmental approach, encouraging residents to take responsibility for their actions in the community.
  • Supervises and audits the caseloads of the SHRL conduct officers
  • Tracks conduct cases and verify cases are processed within an appropriate time frame
  • Interpret and explain university philosophy, policies, expectations, regulations, and the developmental educational goals of the conduct process to staff, residents, parents, and members of the campus community when necessary.
  • Consult and coordinate as necessary with administrators and other university departments to maximize student learning and development, community safety, and retention.
Department, Division, and University Committees and Advising
  • Serve on the SHRL Assessment Committee
  • Participate in department committees
  • Respond to emergencies as needed, such as, crisis and emergency response; facility maintenance; serve on SHRL ride out team for campus emergencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, UH MAPPs and SAMs and general policies and procedures applicable in a higher education residential life setting. Continues to read and study current literature on student learning, student development theory, management theory, and student affairs.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships within the department, with other departments, student groups, the university community and stakeholders.
  • Work with and support cross-functional teams and to foster teamwork
  • Develops strategies in line with the SHRL Mission Statement to enhance residents’ experiences. This includes recommending and initiating solutions to problems or issues in systems procedures, ensuring residents’ needs are continually met in a supportive, caring manner
  • Assist with other projects as directed

Qualifications :

Associates and 1 year experience

Education: Requires the ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies and practices attainable through specific education and/or training programs in a specialty or technical field. Advanced vocational or electronic skills or a basic knowledge of a professional field is required. An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration are characteristic of this field.Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
