Summary of Job Duties:Teaching upper and lower level history courses and overseeing the History Teacher Licensure program The position reports to the head of the department.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in History
  • Prior experience working with teacher licensure students or in a teacher licensure program.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • The ability to successfully teach university-level courses in history and history education.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and state expectations regarding teacher program accreditation reports and requirements.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work well with a diverse group of people across campus and in various state agencies.
Summary of Job Duties:
  • Primary functions of the position include maintaining and overseeing the History Teacher Licensure Program including advising and observing student teachers as well as teaching various education-related courses. Maintaining program accreditation is an important requirement of this position.
  • Secondary functions of the position include teaching lower-level general education courses as well as upper-level courses in the candidate’s field(s) of specialization.
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates.
  • Requires consistent on-time attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Relationships: In addition to other departmental personnel, the person in this position works with a wide variety and large number of people across campus and in various state agencies.

List Employees Supervised: The person in this position will supervise student teachers in the teacher licensure program.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 50 pounds. Routine work schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional overtime and travel required. Travel will be required to observe student teachers.
