The Assistant Manager, Production Facilities provides support for Emerson College's Television production studios and the control room in Piano Row gym. They are the key staff member overseeing the technical and scheduling needs of the Gym control room. They supervise the student staff in order to support various academic and co-curricular television productions using industry-standard equipment.

This position is responsible for the Tufte facility, which is dedicated to helping to fulfill the television production curriculum (a part of the Visual and Media Arts program), through classes and student productions. This position is also responsible for support in the gym control room, in which many journalism and production students gain valuable sport production experience.
Your Department
The Media Technologies and Production department (MTP) provides superior curricular and co-curricular support to students and faculty in media-intensive programs through high-functioning facilities, equipment, and staffing services that support the work they do, creating avenues for innovation and creativity. This position is within the Production Facilities group of MTP, where students gain career skills in the media production industry.

Your Partners: Media Technologies and Production departments, Emerson Channel, MTP Engineering, Equipment Distribution Center, IT Lab Support, Athletics, Facilities Management,
Hours: 3 days 9am - 5pm in the Tufte facility and reminder of time flexible to support event production in Piano Row Gym. Weekend coverage is also expected when needed.

Your Core Responsibilities:
- Provide general oversight of the Tufte Television Facility
and/or Piano Row Gym Control room. Maintain a safe and inviting
environment for student staff, faculty. Ensure use of the space
conforms to Emerson's rules and regulations.
- Manage the operation and maintenance of the two television
studios and associated areas (i.e control rooms, machine room).
Ensure equipment is operational, spaces normalized before and after
use and properly staffed.
- Oversee co-curricular television productions (Emerson Channel
Sports/EVVYs) in the gym control room facility. Supervise student
users and proper usage of equipment and that equipment is
operational.
- Serve as the key technical specialist for productions using the
Piano Row gym control room. Serve as the main point of contact for
training, support and scheduling. Provide guidance to student users
with facility capabilities to achieve production goals. Coordinate
with other departments, i.e. MTP Engineering, Facilities
Management, for special needs in the facility.
- Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and student users.
Support consists of proper use of the facility equipment, creating
specific equipment setup and/ or templates and guiding with special
technical needs. Troubleshoot equipment issues, operationally and
technical as they arise in facilities during production;
- Conduct technical/operational and safety workshops on various
video and audio production processes. Assist with development of
collateral materials (workflows, white papers) on relevant
equipment, software and best practices. Contribute collateral and
postings to the Emerson community on the WordPress production
website and other outlets. Write technical guides as
needed.
- Supervise student staff while on shift ensuring high quality of
user services.
Your Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing reservations in both the Tufte Television
facility and gym control room;
- Supervise vending of items for the television facilities
(microphones, cables, lighting supplies, etc.)
- Perform minor preventative maintenance of television equipment,
studio and control room facilities, and scenery.
- Coordinate repairs to facilities and equipment. Communicate
with the manager regarding significant equipment repairs that may
disrupt student or faculty use.
- Support the Director, Production Facilities with facility
upgrades, both operational and technical.
- Support department with special productions and projects that
use the facility or other college events.
- Stay current with media, production equipment, technology
trends by attending local vendor presentations and demonstrations,
industry conference wrap-ups, on-site vendor demonstrations, and
reading industry literature.
- Collaborate with other production facilities teams to define
goals and establish department objectives.
- Provide support in other Production Facilities areas, including
the Paramount Soundstage and Journalism Production Center as
needed. Provide support in other Production Facilities areas,

Journalism Production Center as needed. Remained trained in key
systems/equipment in the specific areas. Be cross trained in the
facilities in order to achieve layered coverage continuity.
- Spend 3-5 training shifts yearly working with area
teams.
- Provide fill-in support as needed to staff
vacancies.

Your Qualifications:
- Experience in all aspects of the video and audio production
processes, including full-service television studio production and
single and multi-camera field operations.
- Three to five years' experience in all aspects of video and
audio production processes, specifically in television studio
production or similar field.
- Basic understanding of production lighting and techniques as
well as the ability to help put together production sets/scenery
(flats, risers, etc).
- Must be able to work in a high demand and fast-paced academic
environment
- Excellent work habits (be a self-starter)
- Able to work well with students and faculty
- Familiarity with Macintosh and Windows operating systems,
hardware and associated peripherals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.

- This is an on-site position, requiring your presence during
work hours.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
Hiring Range: $52,200.17 - $54,700.06
