The Media Technologies and Production department (MTP) provide
superior curricular and co-curricular support to students and
faculty in media-intensive programs through high-functioning
facilities, equipment, and staffing services that support the work
they do, creating avenues for innovation and creativity. MTP's Post
Production Department areas include: Audio, Digital Film Labs
(DFL), Digital Production Labs (DPL), Emerging Media Labs (EML),
Photo Editing Labs (PEL) and Darkroom. The Assistant Manager, Post
Production Facilities provides support to all areas of MTP Post
Production Facilities, providing day-to-day operation support as
well as providing staff presence and student workers oversight on
nights and weekends as required.
Purpose of Position:
The Post Productions facilities are
dedicated to helping fulfill the Visual and Media Arts emerging
media, photography and post production curriculum. The Post
Production team provides students and faculty, equipment, training,
and assistance to develop the skills and workflows needed to
operate these specialized environments.
The Assistant Manager, Post Production Facilities augments these
services by ensuring coverage continuity. This may include nights
and weekend assignments.

- Assist the Director, Post Production facilities with day-to-day
operational duties of MTP Post Production Facilities such as
training, scheduling, and overseeing student employees as well
providing oversight, guidance and ongoing technical support while
the facilities are in use, whether for classes or faculty-assigned
- Oversee student employees throughout MTP Post Production
Facilities on nights and weekends as needed.
- MTP Post Productions facilities are in use 7 days a week for
classes as well as class-related student projects and otherwise.
The Assistant Manager will assist in providing oversight, guidance
as well as ongoing technical support during those times.
- Using Webcheckout, our web-based facilities management
solution, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for allocating
classes and final exam spaces as reflected in semester schedules
from the Visual Media Arts department.
- Frequent interaction with faculty and students to assist these
constituencies in the completion of end-of-semester & capstone
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies in production and post
production. Assist with the implementation of new or expanding
technologies, equipment and software impacting the post production
- Establish and maintain contact with existing and potential
vendors of equipment and software for future post production
activities and acquisitions. When requested, attend relevant trade
shows, vendor visits, seminars, etc.
- Collaborate with other post production managers to define goals
and establish department objectives. Attend weekly meetings with
post-production managers to discuss ongoing facilities operations,
budgets, and client relationships and to review periodic and annual
- Assist with development of collateral materials (workflows,
white papers) on relevant equipment, software and best practices.
Contribute collateral and postings to the Emerson community on the
WordPress post production website and other outlets.
- All other duties as assigned
BA in a related field. High level of computer literacy on Mac and
PC. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Professional mastery of
NLE-based post production including AVID Media Composer, Avid Pro
Tools, Adobe Premiere and other relevant post production
hardware/software. Extensive knowledge of various post production
workflows, including sound and image, digital and analog, standard
definition to 12K, surround sound, media and project management,
editing techniques, media compression and deliverables. Ability to
troubleshoot NLE computer and software issues. Ability to supervise
and train a diverse team of student employees with varying degrees
of knowledge. Ability to assess student employee abilities and
delegate responsibilities in a way that advances student knowledge
and accomplishes project goals. Excellent communication skills,
both written and oral. Ability to co-manage and thrive in a diverse
workplace, as a team player, with an attention to detail.

You'll be preferred if you have:
Skills in hiring, scheduling, planning, and budgeting of
professional or non-professional (student) work
force. Experience with planning and budgeting of post production
facility upgrades. Knowledge of advanced color correction, motion
graphics, visual effects, Davinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Pro
Tools, Maya, analog video/film, networked storage and Webcheckout
vending software. Knowledge of studio/facility design,
installation, wiring and equipment troubleshooting.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
Hiring Range: $51,100.00 - $53,600.00
This position will be exclusively represented by the Service
Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of
