Scope of Job:
The Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering (MAIE) Department at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for an open rank (assistant, associate, or full) Professor of Practice position to start the Fall 2022 semester. The MAIE department offers an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management (online and traditional), a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering at the Edinburg campus. This position is a 3-year appointment, renewable based on favorable annual evaluations and budget availability.

Candidates are expected to teach online graduate courses in the Master of Science in Engineering Management program and undergraduate Manufacturing Engineering face to face courses in industrial engineering topics such as engineering statistics, quality control, engineering economics, operations research, planning and control, human factors, ergonomics, facilities layout and senior design.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have earned a PhD in Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar field from an ABET-accredited university.

Applicants should have significant industrial experience and a strong commitment to teaching. Previous online teaching experience is highly desired.

Additional Information:
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
