Governors State University is seeking to hire a Graduation Coordinator to be responsible for processing graduation applications. Direct and coordinate activities related to graduate application processing.

Essential Responsibilities:

40% Coordinate final review of student academic records in preparation for degree and certificate conferral. Verify final grades and utilize degree audit to determine completion of degree requirements and graduation honors.

30% Process graduation information and input data into student database for verification of completed degree requirements. Review transcripts for accuracy.

5% Maintain accurate lists of candidates for graduation and subsequently, candidates for graduation who have not met degree requirements
.
5% Assist in all correspondence regarding graduation applications, diploma processing, and commencement activities.

5% Participate on commencement committee to develop and implement procedures for yearly graduation ceremony.

5% Works with advisors to develop proactive solutions to degree conferral issues while adhering to University policy.

5% Advise students, faculty, advisors, and staff of policies and procedures regarding graduation requirements.

5% Accurately and efficiently post degree conferral information in Colleague while meeting strict deadlines.

(This is an unionized position. Salary starts at the base up to an additional 5% based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications per union contract).

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:
    1. course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • 60 semester hours or an Associate’s Degree equals eighteen months (18 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
    2. work experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer service, public relations, records management, or closely related experience.

• Bachelor’s degree
• Work experience in higher education
• Experience in high volume phone calls and walk-in customer service
• Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA ) as it relates to the release of records
• Understanding of organization-related issues; computer proficiency in Windows environment appropriate to position; excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills; ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work; mature, professional attitude and appearance; openness to continuing learning and upgrading of skills. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT :
